An early concept of a new 3,000 square foot restaurant in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. The design is inspired by nearby mineshafts, which were built in pieces, using materials on hand. As miner’s needs changed, so did the mineshafts, as reflected in the seemingly haphazard juxtaposition of shapes in the restaurant building. The outside terrace mimics the mineshaft opening overlooking the landscape below from high on the hillside.
